‘Preventing disease and saving resources: the potential contribution of increasing breastfeeding rates in the UK’

In 2010 UNICEF commissioned a piece of work by a consortium of academics, led by Professor Mary Renfrew to look at whether increases in breastfeeding would lead to financial savings for the NHS and if so, how much savings could be made and over what time period.  The main findings and key policy messages are here this UNICEF UK policy document
