Over a thousand people sent messages to the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, asking him to think again about scrapping the Infant Feeding Coordinator posts and support for National Breastfeeding Week. However, the response from the Department of Health is that the cuts to the posts stand - click here.

These posts - backed by multisectoral committees - are one of the measures in the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding, which the UK Government claims to support. Other measures include implementing the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, which has still not been done in the UK.

For the next stage of the campaign, we are asking people to sign an ePetition on the Prime Minister's website. Petitions that receive 100,000 signatures prompt a debate in Parliament.
