On 1 January 2011, Hungary took over the EU Presidency from Belgium for the next half year (see http://www.eu2011.hu/) .
The Hungarian Presidency programme is called “Strong Europe” and builds on the following 4 priorities: Growth, job creation and social inclusion; a stronger Europe; a citizen-friendly EU; responsible enlargement and global commitment. This document also includes the draft agendas for the meetings of the EU Environment ministers on 25 March and 17 June. Issues to be discussed include climate change (Cancun outcomes and EU move to 30% greenhouse gas reduction target), low-carbon economic roadmap 2050, biodiversity and resource efficiency. EU Health ministers will meet on 7 March, 19 May and 6.-7 June.
